One thing I have been wondering about the Quickening world for a while now. Alisier has little to no interaction with the rest of the world, however, from previous answers, I conclude that the rest of the world has a level of technology on par with that of Alisier. Wouldn't that mean that at least on technological levels, there is some kind of interaction with the rest of the world, most likely in a 'I scratch your back, you scratch my back'-sort of fashion? It is of course possible that both Alisier and the rest of the world got their technologies independently, I would find that rather improbable though. Unless both sides have a good amount of espionage going on, of course.
...I'm probably a tad too obsessed with foreign affairs. Maybe I should shut up now.

You are right with the independent progression of technologies, but since Alisier has Quickening, Pure magic Rodens are often used in place of/along with machines. But, considering the location of Alisier (i.e., it is not an isolated country geographically), it is inevitable that there are still interaction with other countries, however unwelcome.
Clearly I haven’t thought this far. :(
